A Journey around Thailand
Ahh! Thailand, land of banyans, backpackers, pork with basil, and other great things beginning with B.
I am traveling around Thailand for the next month – on Koh Samui with the family today, then Koh Lanta, Krabi, Phuket and Khao Lak.
I have my camera equipment with me, so if anyone wants help putting together a Waboba video for the Waboba Video Contest 2012 (and can catch us as we’re passing through), just give us a holler.
Bangkok Airways chopped us up at ‘bumi airport and put us through the mincer. The family arrived on Samui like grim survivors of the apocalypse, two in one plane, two in another, and our luggage in a third. It seems to be a general rule that staff in Thai companies spend their time troubleshooting a system that just doesn’t work. We’ll be choosing a different airline on the way back.
We’ve settled in a beach hut in Bang Rak, where we can lie, four in the bed, and watch the propeller planes sweep in at tree height over the sea. I’ve come to the conclusion that Bang Rak is a better beach than Lamai, which is better than Chaweng.
Our beach hut looks like this.

We have decided to push back the final entry date for the Waboba Asia Video Contest 2011. If you haven’t entered the competition yet, you now have three extra months to come up with something. Entries must be in by December 31, 2011.
Moving the date makes it easier for contestants from Australia and Thailand to make their entries. Waboba season is just getting started there. If you are from Europe or the Americas and you’ll be traveling in Asia over the winter, make sure you bring your video camera, because you are also eligible to enter the Waboba Asia Video Contest 2011, as long as you make your video while you are in Asia.
The competition winner will receive an amazing holiday for two in Phuket, including flights for two to Phuket from anywhere in Asia, plus two nights in a five-star hotel, plus 700USD in cash.
Get filming. The competition rules are shown here.
We’ve had quite a few messages recently asking where to find the Waboba Extreme ball in Bangkok. The ball is coming to various places very soon, but for now you’ll be sure to find them at Planet Scuba, 666 Sukhumvit. It’s very close to Emporium at Phrom Phong, and adjacent to Soi 24.
Once you’ve bought your ball, don’t forget to enter our video competition for a chance to win a holiday in Phuket.
